A New Trustee Act for Alberta and Upcoming Trust Tax Disclosure Rules

Alberta has become one of the first provinces to consider and implement recommendations from the Uniform Law Conference of Canada for modernizing trust law in Canada.  The new legislation comes into force on February 1, 2023 and will apply to inter-vivo and testamentary trusts.  This presentation will focus on some key changes that result from the new legislation which will affect trustees of Alberta resident trusts, their advisors and how trusts will be drafted.

In addition, there are new federal trust reporting rules coming into force for 2023 which will increase the disclosure requirements.  This presentation will show us how to prepare for these new rules.
